Offering a piano course to children and adults in your community is a great way to turn something you love, music, into a substantial source of income for you and your family. Having an effective business plan from the start will help you make even more money than you probably hoped to make. Even if you are offering an occasional free piano course to a potential student your business will remain profitable. By planning your time more carefully and being accountable for the money you earn, the time you spend earning it, and the way you advertise your business (even if you are only holding yourself accountable) you are treating your business like an actual business rather than a hobby or pastime. Treating your business as a hobby is what many potential piano teachers end up doing. This is also the very reason that many of them fail to produce a viable income from the piano lessons they offer.

Be sure that your plan is based on realistic facts, figures, and expenses and go from there. By doing this you are giving your business a real chance to get off the ground rather than limiting yourself and the growth of your business.
