Piano Tuning

Piano Tuning Affects Your Bottom Line

Piano tuning is very important if you are planning to teach piano lessons. Contrary to popular belief it is not exactly easy to learn to play the piano well. This is particularly true if you are attempting to learn on a piano that is out of tune. Piano tuning in and of itself can be a lucrative profession in this day and age. More and more often, people are choosing to restore older pieces rather than disposing of them in favor of new pianos. This keeps piano tuners much busier than working on many newer pianos.

A piano is a work of art when you think about all the components that go into making each sound. Everything has to work in perfect unity in order for that sound to ring true. This is where piano tuning is so important. One note, that doesn't resonate properly, can make an entire song sound wrong and incorrect. One key that sticks or one string that isn't properly wound can turn a work of beauty into a carefully composed headache.

While piano tuning isn't exactly playing or teaching piano, it is necessary in order to teach or to play the piano well. It is a good idea, if you are considering teaching piano as a source of income that you make sure that all of your equipment is in proper working order. You will want to take special care that your piano is tuned regularly. Little things like this when neglected can have a serious and negative impact on your business. Having tunings scheduled throughout the year at appropriate times insures that it never becomes a problem.

Piano tuning is also important to your student's enjoyment of the process. Most students want to play the piano. There are a few who are taking the lessons because that is what their parents wish for, but for the most part students want to make great music. This is more difficult if the music doesn't sound right to them. If your students aren't enjoying the lessons, they will quickly lose interest and become disenchanted with the learning process.

While you may not believe that something as simple as a proper piano tuning can cause so much havoc I can assure you that it can. This is a problem that should be considered carefully and with prompt attention. Of course most pianists know the importance of this; they simply neglect to have it checked out until the problem is noticeable. By having a good business plan in place you should have time scheduled regularly throughout the year for tunings. This provides your piano with the proper tuning and attention while diminishing the possibility of sour notes in between.

A good business plan will help you maximize your profit, minimize your downtime, and keep things running evenly and smoothly throughout the year. It will also allow you to focus on what you do best, teaching children to play the piano. You won't have to spend your time worrying about mundane issues such as billing or your last piano tuning when other things are much more deserving of your time and attention.
