Running A Piano Teaching Business

Running Your Piano Teaching Business

Operating a piano teaching business from my home is one of the best decisions I've ever made. As a matter of fact, a piano teaching business from home has been responsible for saving me thousands of dollars in operating costs alone. Add that to the other benefits that are involved in operating a piano teaching business from my home and they make this the wisest business ownership decisions I've made so far.

Many people don't actually realize that by having my piano teaching business from my home I've opened the doors to serious tax savings each year. You will need to consult with your local accountant in order to find out how this will directly affect you but the savings can be quite significant. Other ways that you can save by operating a business from your home is by eliminating a commute that can sometimes be hectic as well as time consuming.

I love the freedom of having a piano teaching business from my home. I have a thirty second commute from home to studio and I don't have to fight with faceless strangers over prime parking spaces. I also do not have to go very far for coffee breaks, lunch breaks, and I can be there for my children on sick days when they are home for school. Most of my actual teaching is done after school hours so nothing is really interrupted by leaving to pick up a sick child from school. Some teachers focus on pre-school aged children so this isn't so much a benefit for them. I tend to take care of paperwork and organization throughout the day rather than actual lesson time.

A piano teaching business from my home allows me the freedom to make decisions that other business owners aren't all that free to make. It eliminates many expenses and allows others to be tax deductible. It also means that I am always a moment away from my office if I have happen to leave something important behind. I have the access and opportunity to handle household or office duties without having to drive any distance in order to do so.

It is important to keep in mind though that operating my business from home works for me but it may not be for everyone. There is a large degree of discipline, determination, and the ability to prioritize that is necessary in order to operate a successful business of any kind from the comforts of home. You can learn to do these things through trial and error while running a piano teaching business from your own home.
