Start A Piano School

Start Your Own Piano School

For the truly brave piano teacher, you may want to start a piano school for your students. This type of lesson plan is open to your discretion. You can have several students in the studio together at a slightly reduced rate, or you can also have the piano school for one or two extremely talented students together. This will allow them a little friendly competition in order to keep them motivated as well as the opportunity to learn from one another. Another great use of your plan to start piano school is having practice time for one student and combines the lesson time for two students. This means that you are seeing more students in the course of your day and earning more money in the process.

When you start a piano school, whichever method you decide to utilize or even if you choose a combination of many different plans you will find that this is a great way to increase your income and expand your business practices. Many piano teachers operate with a waiting list and feel that the longer the waiting list is the better off they are. What many teachers fail to realize is that if students remain on the waiting list too long they will eventually find another teacher.

The decision to start a piano school is a great idea for beginning students who do not yet have the basics. You can invite 4 or 5 students into one class and begin teaching the basics of reading music, posture, scales, etc. and not necessarily need the one on one experience that you will want to offer them later on in the lessons process. In other words, it gets the basics to the students in a group environment and much sooner than if they were to begin from scratch once their position on the waiting list came available. You can offer this class at a reduced rate since there will be more students and still make more money off that hour. This is by far one of my favorite ideas for a piano school.

Another great way to start piano school is by allowing students to mentor one another by sharing 30 minutes of each lesson working together under your direction and 30 minutes of private time with your instruction. Your students have the opportunity to hear each other play and learn about the differences among themselves while also challenging one another and still benefiting from your private instruction. If you decide to start a piano school, consider all your options before making your final decision.
