Teaching piano to children can be a very fun and challenging career choice. In addition to being paid for doing something you really love, you are also sharing this gift with others. Teaching piano to children can also be a highly lucrative career choice. It would be great to think that we could embark on a career for the sheer joy of that experience. The first lessons when teaching piano to children can be quite tedious not only for you as the teacher, but also for the student. It is very important that you remember to bring some fun easy little songs into the lessons in order to keep your students feeling a grand sense of accomplishment and enjoyment for their efforts. The first lessons are very important as an indicator not only of the interest of the student but also the innate talent of the student as well.




Children have a grand enthusiasm for learning that will help them endure the tedium of scales and learning music notes. When teaching piano to children it can help a lot to use flash cards and stickers whenever possible as teaching aids. Small children find these things to be a great deal of fun. If you turn the less interesting aspects of learning piano into fun games it will help the student maintain their enthusiasm longer.




Teaching children to play the piano can be a great deal more fun than teaching adults or older kids as small children are often rather eager to please and are often happy with small encouragements and accomplishments. Adults tend to forget the importance of taking baby steps and want immediate results for their efforts. Adults are also much more vocal in their disapproval, which can make for some tense situations.




Teaching children to play piano however isn't for everyone. There are teachers who specialize in children and those who specialize in adults. There are even teachers who solely teach college students the joys of playing piano. Whichever kind of teacher you are or whichever age group you prefer I'm sure you can agree that your business is teaching piano and owning a business in and of itself can be a challenge. It is up to each individual to learn the basics of owning and operating their piano teaching business while they enjoy their real job-teaching children to play piano.
