Hi, just wondering at what age and skill you need to be to become a piano teacher?

I’m 16 and looking for a job! have a grade 5 in piano and in theory and i’m considering looking into teaching piano. Just wondered if I needed a higher grade, how much to charge etc. thanks!

Seems like your talented and have the skills. the thing is, No music school would hire you as a teacher. Mainly because you lack formal educational credentials and due to your age, also lack professional experience. However, you can give private lessons. Either from your home or by going to student’s homes and giving the lessons. I think that’s your best course of action, for now. About 10 years ago I gave private guitar lessons. I lacked a degree in music but studied with professional teachers for 7 years. I had about 12 students. I came to their home and gave a one hour lesson per week. At that time, I was getting $10 per lesson. Of course, I was a lot older that 16, which is your drawback. but i think if you worked at it (getting clients/students) you could easily get that price now. Good Luck.
