How can I teach abroad?

By Sheryl ·

I am currently in the process of finishing up a degree in music education. When I am done I will have a license from Indiana to teach general and instrumental music. I would really like to to teach in another country but I’m not entirely sure how to do this. I would really appreciate any advice on how to find a job teaching music in another country and everything that goes into obtaining a job abroad. Any info is appreciate, thanks!

You might want to check out Italy and its CLIL courses (Content and Language Integrated Learning) where you would teach the subject of Music in the target language of English. It’s on program in some elementary, middle and high schools. Good luck!

Just like you’d teach a man.

I don’t know about teaching music as there must be local music teachers in competition for jobs but how about teaching English as a foreign language?

Bringing music into your lessons might make you an outstanding teacher. Perhaps when in the foreign country you can explore the possibility of teaching music only.

You can check up the websites of music schools overseas. See if they have a vacancy. You can also subscribe to music education magazines where schools advertise for music teachers.

Go for it. Ask God, who is Jesus, for an answer. He can whisper that softly into your heart. Jesus is the answer to man’s problems.
