My personal opinion is that it wouldn’t help you to become a better piano player. Sure you might have a better reach than most people if you had six fingers, but as a piano player I don’t believe it would make a significant difference.

I think it would make things more difficult. Not only would you have to refigure the fingerings of scales and chords, but piano is written in a way that it suits people that have five fingers on each hand, just because that’s what most people have. There would be no need for the extra finger.

theres something about that in a movie called "Gattaca."
theres a piano piece that only a 6-fingered man can play…

I am not a pianist, but I think a 6th finger for a children's book is a fun idea. Realistically, though, people who are born with this condition don't actually have a sixth finger. It is a fleshy piece that "tried to be a finger' and does not have bone in it. The doctor will remove the excess after birth.
