My personal opinion is that it wouldn't help you to become a better piano player. Sure you might have a better reach than most people if you had six fingers, but as a piano player I don't believe it would make a significant difference.

I think it would make things more difficult. Not only would you have to refigure the fingerings of scales and chords, but piano is written in a way that it suits people that have five fingers on each hand, just because that's what most people have. There would be no need for the extra finger.
References :
I am not a pianist, but I think a 6th finger for a children's book is a fun idea. Realistically, though, people who are born with this condition don't actually have a sixth finger. It is a fleshy piece that "tried to be a finger' and does not have bone in it. The doctor will remove the excess after birth.
References :
Will a sixth finger on one or each of your hands help you to become a better piano player?
I'm doing research for a children's book I'm writing. Lol.
