How long will it take to reach level 8 playing the piano?
i was up to level 4 twenty years ago but i havent play since.
how long will it take to get to level 8?
And can you go out a teach piano lessons if you reach level 8?
If you practice an hour a day every day, I would guess that you’d get up to level 8 in a year. Though that prediction is as reliable as my predictions on what the weather will be like a week from tomorrow.
Theoretically, you could go give lessons right now. But for me to hire a piano teacher, I would need to see more than the attainment of a given level. I’d want to see years of experience playing the piano, without any recent breaks, and at least a year of experience teaching piano.

Depends on how you approach practice and how quickly you learn. But you have the basics done, so it’s a good start. I’d say between one to two years if you’re moving at a fast pace.
Theoretically you can teach at any level. However, I’d strongly advice against teaching until you’ve learned all the basic techniques. Too often a time have I seen promising young students lacking in technique taught by teachers with no qualifications.

I would like to know this myself, actually!
From experience and observing IRL acquaintances, the standard rate of progress seems to be 3 grades for every 2 years you learn, but it’s heavily dependent on how much you practice. One of my friends went from absolute beginner at 11 to AmusA at 16 and claims to practise 1-3 hours a day, whereas another practised as much in a week and after several years only made it to 2nd grade.
@ Bill: Did you get to 8th grade in that timeframe and with that amount of practise yourself??

I’ve been playing for roughly 3 years… and i’m going into grade 4. It depends on the amount of time you’re willing to invest and your learning capacity. I can’t even tell myself how long it will take before I get to grade 8. Perhaps 3 or 4 more years until I get to grade 8. That’s my personal experience. I don’t have A LOT of time to committ to playing piano like I did last year. I’m on my graduating year, so I have to do real well in school first, so I can’t always find time to practice.

You will have to start from scratch again if you haven’t played in twenty years. However, this time you’ll probably learn quicker if you’ve learnt it once, but how fast you reach grade 8 will depend on how talented you are and how much you practice and how good your teacher is.
You can teach piano lessons without ever having seen a piano before in your life; the only problem is you’d be like cyclops – only one pupil and that’s yourself.

Actually, you can teach piano lessons up to level 4.
But to reach level 8, looks like it is going to take you 10 years unless you try out methods to boost your musical proficiency, technique, and music sight reading.
