In getting kids interested in playing the piano, the best approach, I believe, is to play some familiar songs, like "If you’re happy and you know it" "Yankee Doodle" "Joy to the World" "Amazing Grace", that way, they see you playing the piano, a person they look up to, hear songs they know, and most likely enjoy, while building a positive outlook on playing the piano, instead of drilling them to learn to play notes without any positive stimuli

well nobody actually likes those songs. why dont you play songs that are on the radio or songs they like.

There is an old saying.. NEVER TRY TO TEACH A PIG TO SING.. IT JUST FRUSTRATES YOU AND IT IRRITATES THE PIG.
You can’t open t the tops of their heads and dip it in with a spoon. If you have ever taken just a single COLLEGE PSYCH CLASS you would learn that people can only learn something if they are mentally capable of learning it and have the DESIRE to learn it.. People, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN
If you are trying to teach children to play the piano because it’s what their MOTHERS want and not because it’s what the CHILDREN want.. you may as well start hear ding CATS or PUSHING STRINGS.. because it’s a whole lot easier.
I started playing the piano at age 6 because my mother was a piano teacher.. but the thing is I WANTED TO LEARN TO PLAY.. unlike so many of my friends who were more interested in playing some kind of ball game.

Success in teaching is to get the student to practice. Devise a practice plan that works for the student.
Here is basically what I suggest.
Start with something fun (Their choice)
a very short exercise.
something that is a challenge. Make it short (a few measures)
end with something fun.
At each lesson, ask: What was the most fun this week? What was the hardest thing this week?
Did you hate doing anything?
Then re think your assignment for next time.
Do not rely on how you learned to play or what worked for another student, they are all different.
